about

from : GET BAACK (Nov 2010)

GET BAACK was our Beatles cover EP. Our original stated goal was 12 albums of increasing sophistication over the course of 2010, the seventh of which was to be a Beatles cover album in order to ground us in pop song-craft, assuming we would have gone way off the rails and started to burn out by album six. Indeed, album six was THE SMILING WILDERNESS, a hazy, introspective, lost and lonely landscape. One of our best, an original statement.

We were on to our own thing and really deep down a hole. That hole was full of day old doughnuts and large large coffees provided by ROSE DONUT (no longer) an all night sandwich and coffee shop near the industrial space we could record in Saturday nights after 10 PM.

That hole was a whole world and while we were down there we built GET BAACK, our Beatles EP and a 1/16 scale diorama dedicated to those fab fellows. M___ loves the Beatles. C___ says "Klaus Voorman" is my favourite Beatle" etc... This song was recorded on Nov 5 into Nov 6 (via midnight) of 2010. C___ insisted on getting to play the drums and M___ played guide guitar. Overdubs are mono-synth multitrack and Wurlitzer vocal melodies and octave dropped Wurlitzer bass. The whole album was made with only this one all night recording session. This song was recorded because the original has organ in it and because we wanted to do the bit at the end (we NAILED IT). The Beatles are fine.
